What are the symptoms of Peripheral Vascular Disease?

Peripheral vascular disease is very common among heart patients.

Most patients with peripheral vascular disease experience pain in their lower extremities while walking. This pain is called claudication. It is usually predictable and reproducible, often occurring after walking a certain distance or when walking uphill.

One of the most serious signs of peripheral vascular disease is pain that occurs while a person is at rest. This is considered a red flag because it may indicate that the condition has become more severe and requires treatment. Pain at rest can be a sign that there is a serious circulation problem affecting the aching limb.
