Advanced Heart and Vascular Center

Advanced Cardiovascular Specialists and CHRISTUS Shreveport-Bossier have formed a joint venture to open Advanced Heart & Vascular Center, a state-of-the-art outpatient cardiac catheterization lab — the first of its kind in the region. This modern, physician-managed cardiac cath and vascular lab is designed to help patients receive quality care outside of the traditional hospital setting.

Advanced Heart & Vascular Center specializes in the performance of outpatient cardiac and peripheral vascular procedures, including:

  • Cardiac Catheterization (Diagnostic and Therapeutic)
  • Coronary Angioplasty/Stent
  • Peripheral Angiography
  • Peripheral Angioplasty/Stent
  • Pacemaker Placement
  • Defibrillator Placement
  • Implantable Loop Recorder Placement

A cardiac catheterization, or a heart cath, is a procedure used to evaluate heart function and identify potential problems with the heart or arteries. During the procedure, a narrow tube called a catheter is inserted into a blood vessel in the groin or arm. Once inserted, the catheter can be used to identify blockages or other problems through X-rays of the vessels and chambers of the heart.

The outpatient experience provided at Advanced Heart and Vascular Center is designed for low-risk patients to receive diagnostic and therapeutic care outside of the traditional hospital setting. Procedures performed in the Advanced Heart and Vascular Center do not require an overnight stay.

Our Team

The lab is fully staffed with a dedicated nursing team to care for patients throughout their visit. Only doctors from Advanced Cardiovascular Specialists perform procedures in the lab.

Advanced Heart and Vascular Center is located within the ACS clinic, which is connected to CHRISTUS Highland hospital. This means that our patients have direct access to a full-service hospital and their team of cardiovascular surgeons, in case of an emergency.
