Am I A Candidate for Radial Arterial Catheterization?
As far as we’re concerned, every patient is a candidate for a radial arterial catheterization unless there is an anatomical reason why the procedure cannot be performed that way.
In some cases, a patient may require a larger sheath to perform a specific procedure. This would make another access site more appropriate. In general, we believe that nearly every patient is a good candidate for radial arterial catheterization.
