ACS Q&A With Dr. Reeves – What Should You Expect At Your First Cardiology Appointment?

Patients coming to a cardiologist for the first time often have a lot of questions about what to expect, and that is completely normal. The first things you should feel as a patient are that you’re well taken care of, that people are kind to you and that you’re having a comfortable experience.

No patient should continue seeing a doctor if they don’t feel comfortable or if they don’t feel that the staff and physicians are approachable. If you don’t feel comfortable, you’re not going to get to the root of the problem. That is something we take great pride in at ACS. We want our staff and physicians to reflect that attitude so that every patient feels welcome from the moment they arrive. It starts at the front desk and continues all the way through the visit with the physician. During your cardiology appointment, there will be a lot of information gathering. As cardiologists, our job is to review what has been done in the past, understand what is currently going on with your particular situation and collect any previous test results. We’ll take a thorough medical history and talk with you about your concerns.

From there, we’ll tailor our questions and develop a treatment plan designed to help you feel better while making sure we fully investigate your condition. Depending on your needs, that plan may include a procedure, medical therapy or a combination of both.
