ACS Q&A with Dr. Gooszen – How Is Heart Disease Different in Women?

Women typically experience chest pain just as men do, but the pain is sometimes not as severe.

Women are also more likely to experience pain in other areas of the body, including the neck, jaw, back or even the abdomen. In some cases, they may not experience pain at all.

Instead, women may notice symptoms like shortness of breath, decreased exercise tolerance, easy fatigue, nausea or sweating. These can all be signs of heart disease.
