ACS Q&A – Dr. Osman: What Are Varicose Veins?
Cardiologist Dr. Mohammed Osman with Advanced Cardiovascular Specialists (ACS) explains varicose veins, why they develop, and how they can affect circulation and vascular health.
Varicose veins are dilated or enlarged veins. They’re pretty common to affect the legs especially. They’re basically enlarged superficial veins. If left untreated, they don’t just cause the cosmetic effect, but they can actually cause some pain on the long term. They can lead to swelling affecting the legs or ulcers. We do have now a lot of treatment methods to treat these veins effectively and safely.
