Cardiologist Dr. Mohammed Osman with Advanced Cardiovascular Specialists (ACS) explains treatment options for varicose veins. They include lifestyle changes, minimally invasive procedures, and advanced vein care solutions.
You can treat varicose veins in different ways. During the early phases of the treatment, we usually try to treat them conservatively. That involves some recommendations to avoid prolonged standing. We use compression stockings to reduce the varicosities. In advanced cases when they are causing significant symptoms like pain, if they are causing significant itching or if they are associated with any significant wounds, we can basically ablate them. There are different ways of doing that. We can do that through laser. We can do that through glue in which we go and find the feeder veins and glue these veins. We can use sclerotherapy to basically ablate these veins. All these methods have been used effectively and safely to treat patients with varicose veins.
